Muneer A. Rasheed on "Winning The Race"
In business and government, just like in sports, there is a race for those who perform as sprinters and another for those that perform as marathoners.
However, is there an advantage of one over the other?
Can they both live harmoniously in the same organization without it being detrimental?
The simple truth is that there is a need for a combination of both in business and government to move the organization and society forward.
The sprinter is analogous to those who take greater risk, but also bring in greater rewards.
They may work on projects that can bring in returns over a three month to one year period. In the case of government; they promote infrustructure projects i.e. road renovation, build schools or places of worship that bring immediate satisfaction to the communities involved.
The distant strategist will formulate plans that will over a longer period of time bring in financial results for the organization or bring in new business and build power plants if done by government.
All organizations from Network (MLM) Marketers to governmental entities need the short and long distance performers to give them a balance portfolio.
Having too many of one or the other may put the organzation in a feast or famine scenario!
