"Five Easy Marketing Techniques
To Enhance Your Consulting Services"



There are Five (5) ways a consultant can start marketing right away!

1. Write Articles: Writing articles for publications in newspapers, magazines (industry specific) websites or blogs.

It is always a good idea to read a few editions of the publication you want to write articles for to understand their style and tone.

You can then write or call the editor to ascertain if they accept outside articles.

If so, you can also ask them for the format the article should be written in to be forwarded to you.

After submission, you can let the editor know that you have similar articles or that you can generate articles on what their “Hot Topics” are.

By the way; one of the best ways to really get noticed through the above sources is to write something controversial.

In addition, you can inform them that you are available, if they are in need of sound bites.

2. Press Kit: Using this is a way to place into the hands of Economic Buyers a hard copy of what you can do for them.

The press kit should be contain your biographical background, an article or two and typical client results.

3. Branding: Branding should be done early in marketing your consulting career. No matter if it’s your name your are trying to brand or the name of the organization include it (Brand) in all your work.

The ultimate Brand my mentor Alan Weiss says is your name!

If this case, you should add it to your article(s) so that it is part of the title i.e ”Muneer A. Rasheed on 5 ways to Market Your Services”

4. Speaking: In doing this you have the opportunity to get in front of people that can use your services.

Speaking also gives you the chance (if done for free) to try out new and potentially controversial information.

For those who don’t have speaking experience, it is good to find opportunities to speak for free.

A couple of organizations you can do this are at the Rotary or Lion’s clubs.

It is always good to keep your ears and eyes open for opportunities to hone your speaking skill.

5. Referrals: Most people miss a great opportunity to gain business simply because they do not ask for referrals.

Think about it; you often refer people to your favorite shop, dentist, pediatrician etc. Those who are in the sales field like insurance agents always ask you for referrals.

This is how they multiply their sales and incomes.

As an independent business person, you should also ask friends, family and business contacts for referrals.

When I was 9 years old, my neighbor told me to always ask for what ever you want in life.

He said if you get it, you are ahead. If not, you are no worse off than if you had not asked! Here is some bonus marketing information!
