Muneer A. Rasheed on "How Kindness Builds Rapport"
Another method of developing rapport is simply through everyday acts of kindness!
Simple, but true!
We are blessed with the ability to extend acts of love to others for no other reason than to provide them with joy, pleasure or convenience.
Here are some easy ways you can apply this form of building rapport.
• Offer your seat to someone if you are using public transportation.
• Offer your place in line if you see someone who is apparently running late. (Of course you use your judgment)
• Open the door for some and allow the other person to enter or exit first.
• Pay the bill for another table at the restaurant (again use your judgment)
• Treat you neighbors and their children to ice cream or bowling
• Pick up lunch or dinner for a colleague who is having a particularly busy day
Even within the context of your cultural norms there are still a myriad of ways you can demonstrate love throughout the day.
Where is the rapport you ask?...
Through the acts we bestow on others, we pave the way for our deeds to be replicated by them.
They in turn experience greater levels of rapport with those whom they come into contact.
As a result we collectively become beneficiaries of each kind act!
