Learning Through Humor "Not To Take Youself Too Seriously"
Humor for work...for life!
I was asked to do a session at a workshop for a group of executives on how to find the funnier side of work.
I must admit, I found that, in it self quite funny!
I was just imagining a group of Pat Paulson types sitting around trying to use analytical comic lines.
One would almost view comic relief as the antithesis to executives in the high powered world of business.
Yet, that's exactly what’s needed when in a stressful environment.
Finding the lighter side of our lives can reduce stress. The most obvious type of humor is self effacing.
Learning to find a laugh within our own fraility is one ingredient to a healthier life.
It is said that through laughter we release Endorphins.
Endorphins are the bodies own legal feel good drug secreted from the pituitary gland at the base of the brain.
You normally feel this rush when you exercise, are praised, give and or receive love and almost during or after any event that brings pleasure.
Some illnesses have been found to reverse when a healthy dose of humor is added to one’s life.
Where are some areas to find a good laugh?
• Recall your own life’s most embarrassing moments or someone else’s if they were not injured during the mishap
• Read Dilbert or a good joke book
• Watch funny movies!
The key is to get the pituitary to start pumping out endorphins on a regular basis.
Who knows, you may find that yourself feeling so good that you are waking up in the middle of the nigh from laughter.
Totally confusing family members or your cat!
