Bomohism and Islam
What are Muslims Thinking

As-Salaam Alaikum

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Like many things that seem to be on the rise i.e. Blood pressure, obesity, the cost of goods and services etc; those being adversely affected by Bomohism appears to also be at an all time high.

Treatment centres established to help those who are afflicted with un-welcomed "entities" seem to have no shortage of clients. The young, “not so young", rich and financially challenged, all seem to share this same issue.

How did we as Muslims come to this? Why are so many Muslims overcome by attacks from what I refer to as the “6th Dimension”?

Does the so called “Spirit World” have nothing better to do than wait around for game full employment from our dimension?

While I’m sure these “entities” do not discriminate; it appears the vast majority of those going to centres for help are women!

Recently, I had a conversation with someone whose spouse has been suffering / plagued by this type of spiritual problem for over 23years!

After listening to what this person had to deal with for more than 2 decades the only thing that came to mind was a line from song which reads:

“Somebody please wake me up from this bad dream”

There is no doubt that these words are shared by many who deal with this on a day to day basis.

Why? While the “possessed” individual is the primary victim in all of this, there are secondary victims as well.

The secondary victims are the other spouse, the children, other family members and friends acquaintances.

This is similar to a smoker whose addiction causes those around them to suffer indirectly (second hand smoke) from what is taking place in their lives.

The family members, friends and acquaintances and the silent victims of Bomohism!

Side Bar: It’s interesting to note that in some places, there are support groups for family members and victims of Cancer survivors, AIDS, Murder, Rape, and Incest etc.

Should we now include in this partial list support groups for families who have a member or members of that family which are victimized by Bomohism?

The questions that I often ask when I see the trauma these “possession” bring is:

Where’s Islam in the midst of Bomohism? And

How does one’s belief in Allah (SWT) fit into the picture?

It seems very disturbing when you learn of Muslims paying Bomohs to send Jinn’s, spirits, entities (which ever) to disturb other Muslims or people in general.

Muslim Brothers and Sisters, if we mix fresh water with salty water the resulting is still not palatable.

Likewise when we mix Islam with Bomohism you get more of the latter(Bomoism than the former (Islam) resulting in an ever increasing number of Muslims reliant on expensive antidotes and cures.

These victims are paying (in many cases) with their hard earned money, seeking relief, but there’s little to be found.

As a result a whole new “” filled with the compulsory CDs, Bottled water with the Holy Quran read over it, Zam Zam (with or without Holy Quran verses read over it), Rock salt, Water for bathing, Creams, Ointments and Sprays. People are told (maybe true) that not only are they sick, but that there home is sick as well. I can almost hear the cash machine now. Kaching!

Don’t get me wrong there are probably a few people out there whose only motivation is to help. I pray that Allah (SWT) is pleased with their work, but isn’t it time that we as Muslims start really believing the opening line that we recite daily.

“In The Name of Allah The Compassionate The Merciful”

Shouldn’t we cry out to Allah to free us from this spiritual/mental bondage that has us trapped in the spiraling web of madness?

Failure to stop mixing Bomohism with Islam will ultimately lead to your echoing similar lines to that which I wrote earlier:

“Somebody please wake me up from this (mad) bad dream”

As-Salaam Alaikum
