Café with Compassion!
SembangSembang is a multipurpose café that places as much (if not more) effort on its social responsibility as it does toward profits.
That probably explains why you can enjoy a combo special of Nasi Lamak and cup of tea/coffee for less than RM2.00!
Much like the music that accompanies a movie; the delicious food served at the café only seems to serve as an accompaniment to the other important events which take place daily.
Some of these events include:
1. Business and Social responsibility
The Muslim Consumer Association (PPIM)works to assist small and medium sized Muslim enterprises which do not have the working capital required to have their products placed on shelves of Supermarkets and Hypermarkets.
How is this accomplished?
SembangSembang provides shelf space for PPIM member’s products (FOC) of Charge.
In addition to providing physical space;PPIM also consults with members on thier goals and ways to actively promote thier products and business !
The Muslim Consumer Association of Malaysia (PPIM) uses the café as a focal point , to encourage Muslim Consumers to support Muslim businesses as well as to actively promote products which are certified halal.
2. Educational
Also served up at the café are a range of business and personal enhancement classes and lectures :
For example:
Strategic Partnerships that provide the resources for(PPIM'S)members to secure the finances they require to start businesses.
One such successful partnership was forged between the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Micro (AIM) Credit Institution and The Muslim Consumer Association of Malaysia (PPIM)
Now as a result of the hard work and dedicaton by Sister Siti Khadijah Daud(Event Coordinator for PPPIM); three groups made up of 15 women are to be the first graduates from the program. (Insha'Allah)

Although many of the programs held at the café are for adults;educators from as far away as Kota Baru bring their students to the cafe for infomative talks.
Brother Noor Nirwandy Mat Noordin (Pengarah Projek PPIM) discusses the importance of safety and good citizenship with the students!
3. Networking and Business Facilitation
Many people come to SembangSembang because it is a great place to meet new and old friends, potential business partners or those who can nexus business with opportunities!
The café buzzes with so many activities that it is not unusual for those who have arrived for one meeting to end up having several others as a result of the rich diversity of visitors that frequently drop in.
